Coffee Twins: Specialty Coffee Munich with a Twin Twist

Some cafés feel like they were created from a business plan. Coffee Twins feels like it came from a shared passion.

Opened in March 2022 by twin brothers Daniel and Jonas Fondaj, this cozy spot in Munich combines genuine warmth with a love for high-quality coffee and handmade food.

Their philosophy is simple: make great coffee approachable, bake everything by hand, and source ingredients with care.

Ideally from just around the corner. It’s a café with heart, grounded in craft.

Daniel and Jonas aren’t just names on the menu – they’re the ones behind the bar, chatting with regulars, dialing in espresso shots, and baking in the back.

The name Coffee Twins isn’t branding – it’s literally who they are.

Their concept focuses on specialty coffee and honest food, with a clear love for both. The Beans come from JB Kaffee, a respected roaster just outside Munich, known for their experimental and high-quality single origins.

The interior is minimalist but warm – think clean wooden surfaces, soft lighting, and thoughtful touches like their custom-made bar with round cut-outs.

There’s a calm energy in the space, with gentle background music and a few well-placed outdoor seats if you prefer to sip in the sun.

It’s a small café, but there’s enough room for a relaxed moment, whether you’re reading, chatting with a friend, or watching the twins joke with regulars.

From espresso-based drinks like flat whites, cappuccinos and americanos to rotating filter options, the quality is consistently high.

You’ll find JB beans from Ethiopia, Rwanda or Brazil on the menu, and depending on the day, filters are brewed either as batch or hand brew – especially when it’s a bit quieter.

Their house espresso is a reliable Brazilian roast – smooth, nutty, and perfect with milk. But the selection rotates, so it’s easy to try something new every week.

And if you’re into home brewing? All coffees are available as whole beans to take home.

Heumilch comes fresh from the Lanzl family farm in Neuching near Munich. Gently pasteurized, it elevates the coffee with its rich, clean taste.

Oat Milk? Yes, but only the good stuff – they use ROA from Amsterdam, known for its balanced, creamy texture without unnecessary additives.

Coffee Twins goes far beyond banana bread. Everything is baked in-house using natural ingredients and no additives.

Cakes & Pastries
All homemade, baked in-house with natural ingredients and no additives. We use only spelt flour from the Meir Mill in Arnbach – rich in minerals, easy to digest, and full of flavor.

Croissants
Our exception: croissants and croissant pastries, made with French flour and Normandy butter for authentic taste.

Spelt Focaccia
Homemade focaccia with spelt flour from Meir Mill, cheese from Kiening dairy, ham from Forche butchery, and a Kieslich spice blend. Also available in a vegan tomato version, with seasonal toppings that change daily.

Homemade Dinkel focaccia – with regional ingredients and seasonal toppings, also in a vegan version

Cinnamon buns – soft, aromatic, baked fresh daily

Cookies & cakes – changing regularly, always handmade

It’s honest baking that matches the care they put into every cup of coffee.

Coffee Twins

What impressed me most was the baking – you can tell how much care and love the brothers put into every focaccia and pastry. It’s thoughtful, handmade, and far above what you’d expect from a small café.

The coffee holds its own, too: consistently good espresso, great beans, and a simple, confident menu. Coffee Twins isn’t loud or showy – but it delivers exactly what matters.

Coffee Twins is located at Ehrengutstraße 18, 80469 München, right in the heart of the Dreimühlenviertel, just a short walk from the Isar. It’s a cozy neighborhood café tucked into one of Munich’s most charming and authentic quarters.

They do! The vegan focaccia with tomato is a regular item, and some cakes or cookies may also be plant-based – just ask at the counter.

At the moment, no public Wi-Fi is available – but it’s the perfect place for a digital detox and a good book.

It’s more of a cozy community café than a laptop workspace. A good place for a break, a chat, or a quiet moment – but not ideal for deep work sessions.
